| |  Even in elementary and middle school, Ava Walker Jenkins was writing plays for her sisters and the neighborhood children. In college she studied acting, constructed sets and sewed a multitude of costumes Later, husband Darell Jenkins entered the picture and soon, so did their 3 children. While volunteering as youth ministers, Ava and Darell wrote, directed and acted in several humorous, mystery-dinner fundraisers. In addition, Ava and Darell taught summer theater classes for children, including their own kiddos, through the Parks and Rec Department. Their original plays and their students won numerous awards each summer at the city-wide, One Act Play competition, including best play, best actor, and best actress. One day, their daughter asked Ava and Darell to write a Christmas play for her high school drama department. They managed to complete it in a weekend and their daughter submitted to the group for a read through. Only then did she reveal the writers were her parents. That play was published by Pioneer Drama and is entitled: Last Minute Wishes. Ava wrote and directed One of Us to help make historical bible characters more relatable to today's youth groups. She is very grateful to Christian Publishers for this chance to share a piece of her heart with others. Ava Walker Jenkins has a B.S. and M.S. in speech communication is currently a college instructor of speech and communication studies. Her husband of 40 years, Darell Jenkins, is currently a high school English teacher. In addition to their 3 grown children, they are the proud grandparents of three adorable grandbabies.
