SCRIPT PREVIEW
Synopsis
These conversational Advent candlelighting scripts bridge the past with the present as they volley from biblical times to contemporary people and scenarios relatable to all. Included are: 1. Do We Hope on Horses?—A modern family’s bantering about Christmas expectations segues into the shepherds’ hope for the Messiah. 2. Peace within the Storm—Superficial talk at a men’s retreat turns serious, leading in to Joseph’s dilemma about whether he should marry Mary. 3. The Gift of Joy— Christmas wish lists contrast with the Magi’s awe, and thus seem relatively unimportant. 4. A Brave Love—Modern moms who “didn’t have a clue” about raising kids relate to Mary’s tentative acceptance of mothering the Messiah. Each week concludes with a short prayer following the lighting of the candle. May be done as Readers Theatre with a minimum of fuss.
