A lonely shepherd boy gazes up at the night sky and wishes upon a thoroughly modern star, Starbright, complete with laptop and cell phone. Wise-cracking and brash, Starbright is all business. Does the boy want an iPad? Maybe something from the Sharper Image catalog? Toys R Us? Mary pines for a room at the Holyday Inn. The wise men dream of a GPS that works. But the deepest longing of the boy's heart is to see the world at peace. In frustration he blurts out, "I just wish God would show us the way!" The "wish" word sets in motion the birth of Christ – the true culmination of hopes past, present, and future. Beautifully descriptive narrative interspersed with fast-paced, witty dialogue sprinkled with pop references and whimsy. When the laughter dies down, the ending is a hushed and tender recitation of the names for Jesus, from Wonderful Counselor to Prince of Peace.
