This beautifully written award-winning play’s dialogue is spare, yet layered with thoughtful and evocative imagery and insights. Its intriguing premise is this: What if Nicodemus from John 3 meets the Blind Man from John 9? When the seeing are spiritually blind and the blind see, will Nicodemus open his eyes to the truth? You’d expect the Blind Man to wear sunglasses – but he’s the only character who doesn’t. Here, sunglasses portray spiritual blindness. All but the Blind Man are spiritually blinded by the traditions set up by their forefathers, and their eyes are closed to the truth that Jesus is Messiah. The performance will nudge your audience to re-evaluate and apply Bible stories they thought they knew. The small cast size invites easier casting and rehearsals. Sensitively and gently probes issues of faith, adding depth to your Lenten worship.
