Each child shares how his or her shade symbolizes an aspect of Easter. Collectively, the colors paint a complete picture of the key events – purple for the King of the Jews royalty, brown for the cross, black for death and sorrow, red for Jesus' blood, orange for the dawning sun on the third day, gray for the empty tomb, blue for heaven and baptismal water, white for purity and forgiveness of sins, yellow for the Light of the World, and green for growth and new life. Any number of children may sing verses of "The Easter Colors Song" interspersed with the color explanations.
