This throwback play is set in a small Oklahoma town in the ‘70s with a parade of unforgettable characters: the busybodies in the beauty shop, the bum, the bridezilla, the cute kid, Santa, and Leslie, a young adult with special needs whose childlike warmth spreads joy to all. An upcoming Christmas wedding throws the town into a tizzy, but the inevitable hilarious goofs get the big laughs! A homeless man is so taken by Leslie’s innocent spirit that it changes everything for him—but an undercurrent of concern for her health runs throughout. Through giggles and tears, all experience Christmas as a time to give but also receive, as the community bands together to care for one of its own. There’s audience participation, an angel choir, and even holiday romance in a performance with sass, style, and sweet nostalgia. |
