SCRIPT PREVIEW
Synopsis
It's business as usual at the shabby wooden gate leading to the little town of Bethlehem. Though a wholly transformative event is taking place, life is on autopilot in this sleepy little village. A homeless woman still wanders, a tax collector still collects and the bakers are baking (and making a colossal mess along with the breads and cakes). One of the angels watching from above is a self-appointed sin buster with a huge reprimand for a young hoodlum's antics and the dishonest words of a rich man. Meanwhile, the search is on for one righteous man in all of Bethlehem who can watch the gate and thus protect the city. The prophet Moriah preaches repentance and announces the birth of Jesus. Who professes belief and who does not? The answers are as unpredictable as the weather. Ends with an imperative question at the beautiful gate of heaven: “Why should I let you in?” By turns reflective and humorous.
