| | SCRIPT PREVIEW | | | Synopsis | | A dramatic program that seamlessly combines congregational candle lighting and Communion as part of the action. The time is several years after Jesus' death. Luke is writing an account of the life of Jesus. He goes to Jesus' aged mother Mary's house to gather information about Jesus' birth. Mary, the innkeeper and his wife, and a shepherd and his grandson reminisce about the happenings of that night in Bethlehem. Luke takes notes for what will later become his gospel. Their reminiscing complete, the characters discuss how they best remember Jesus now—through the bread and the cup. Then the "lamps" (the small candles held by everyone) are lit, "for we cannot speak of the joy of Christ in the darkness." The congregation sings a closing carol in the glowing candlelight. | | | Related Titles: | | A program with audience participation A mock trial with audience participation A traditional pageant with a twist A children's program in rap, rhyme and song |
