| | SCRIPT PREVIEW | | | Synopsis | | This play seamlessly combines angelic preparations with the biblical narrative of Christ’s birth, in action that volleys from heaven to earth. The Head Angel must decide who will announce Jesus’ birth. He devises a plan: whoever can best describe the true meaning of Jesus’ birth may serve as the coveted Herald Angel. A friendly competition ensues (this is heaven, after all), with heavenly contest efforts interwoven with Mary and Joseph’s journey and a comic “no room at the inn” scene. Clarence describes Jesus as “the Savior,” Ariel as “the Messiah,” and new young arrival Angelica as “our Lord.” It’s a three-way tie for first, with a trio of Herald Angels accompanying the host to share the good news with the shepherds. Concludes with singing “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” |
