Four children hold up signs to emphasize key events of the first Christmas. Our journey begins at the first sign, “Prophets,” which takes us back hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth to the promised Messiah in the Old Testament. The second sign, “Nazareth,” guides us to the hometown of Mary and Joseph, where they encounter the angel Gabriel. The next sign, “Bethlehem,” leads us to the census and the stable where Jesus was born. The final sign, “You and I,” points us to the end of the Christmas road – or is it? No — it’s just the beginning. The birth of the baby means the birth of Christian living in our hearts. The beauty of this pageant is its multifaceted approach, with a responsive litany, carols, poetry recitation, and Scripture reading so many children may take part. |
